Welcome to Matt Giles Online
A prolific writer, Matt has been writing songs for several years now. Some earlier songs (2002) were produced on an EP and used to aid in the funding of a "year in industry" in France during his degree course.

Single ‘The Grace Of My God (Wave Upon Wave)’
It started with a book of puritan prayers, "The Valley of Vision", which has been causing quite a stir since its publication. One prayer in particular caught the imagination of UK singer/songwriter Matt Giles, inspiring the basis of a lyric. A Brahms melody recalled from early days of piano tuition seemed to fit naturally and with the addition of a driving chorus line resulted in the creation of "The Grace Of My God (Wave Upon Wave)".

Having received glowing commendations from a variety of sources including both "associates".....
"I have found myself listening to a rough acoustic recording of it many many times repeatedly today with tears streaming down my face. It just expresses the gospel better than anything new I have heard for a long time." (Adrian Warnock, blogger)

and "strangers".....

"Okay, whoever Matt Giles is, thank you for putting the prayer 'Privileges' to the music you did and turning out 'The Grace of My God' wow." (a pastor in Virginia USA)

..... and with the song having been "taken up" and used in worship in several locations around the world, Honeycomb Records decided to embark on a studio production of the song with another fledgling group, hi-sonorous (Sanjay Rajo and Chris Taylor), based in Southampton. Combining their experimental approach to music production and excellent musicianship with that of Andy Balls (ex Psalm-Drummers) on percussion and the warm tones of Matt's vocals, the result is a powerful, moving worship song which proclaims that the grace of God both rescues us from our fallen state, and secures us in our every day living.

The song is released for worldwide web delivery (iTunes.com, Napster,.com AmazonMp3.com, etc, etc) in January 2009.

Album ‘Undone’
Matt Giles’ debut album ‘Undone’ is an eclectic and original compilation of songs showing great poetic skill intertwined with striking melodies. Available from Cross Rhythms Direct and risen-records.com from July 2007.

His songs convey a profound revelation of God's grace and majesty - his title track describing the sinfulness of man in the face of the holiness of God.

In the songs ‘Redemption’ and ‘Forever I’ll Proclaim the Cross’, we catch a glimpse of the influence of hymn writers such as Charles Wesley in the bold, prosaic lyrics set to powerful melodies and in his shamelessness in declaring the Cross of Christ. Matt exhorts the church in ‘Like Stars’- urgent lyrics set to a massive tune with plenty of gutsy guitar and percussion work. Matt's talent for writing more upbeat rock songs is furthermore demonstrated in the well-structured songs: ‘Hiding Place’ and ‘Jesus, Lord of All’.

The acoustic tracks such as ‘Nothing Could Compare’ and ‘There’s No Other’ reveal the more personal, devotional side to Matt's songwriting; their raw presentation expressing his heart for God.

Matt is supported on this production by some very fine musicians including well established classical performers, who have also featured on other contemporary Christian works, and also by Nexus graduates.

Released in July 2007 on Risen Records label, RRCD006.
